new year

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday and a happy new year. I did. I was very busy and am still recovering from all the redecorating and finding places for the new things my kids got. They got so many gifts from everyone and now we are trying to fit it all in.

As far as blogging goes, I'm jumping back on track this week, as soon as I get some time. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and I'll be doing my weekly pregnancy update tomorrow because I'm 34 weeks now. 

Until then, check out the face of my new blog. I am probably going to change the name, but I'm excited because this will be a more personal blog where I write and share things that are important to me. This blog is important, but I see it more of an educational and dare I say, commerical, project of mine. Some people are just interested in information, not so much in getting to know me, so my new blog will be for friends and family who want to follow along more closely with my family and I.

funny friday: vol 2

Yes it is late, but here we are again. I started off trying to write something with meaning and purpose but I'm fresh out. I'm just happy its Friday! Thought I'd share some more funny pics with you guys. They made me laugh this morning. Have a great night and a great weekend! No drinking and driving!!! I'm serious!!

I'll be sitting on the couch for some "me" time, watching movies, pigging out, and maybe even falling asleep while doing one of those. I'm happy.

 Not that I have a problem with excessive Twitter use, but it is pretty funny.

Veteran's day. I know quite a few so I guess the polite thing to do is to say "Happy Veteran's Day" or "Thank You". Hopefully, if you served, your experience was a positive one. I will always be an extreme idealist and wish we lived in a world where the military was not needed.

I have been running around the house like a wild child today. My nephew is visiting and that means an extra couch jumper, sippy cup to fill, diaper to change, and heathen to yell at child to love on. Something interesting I realized was that if you have to yell from the kitchen for a 2 yr old and a 3 yrd old to be quiet every 2 minutes because the baby is finally napping, you are probably contributing a whole lot more noise to the environment. Just let it go.

The weather almost got me feeling gloomy but I shall fight til the death. In light of my uncharacteristically optimistic outlook on today, I thought I'd post some funny pics from around the web. I actually found them on Pinterest which makes browsing anything so much easier. I hope they can bring at least a partial smile to your face.

 I have to refrain from scaring the hell out of my children with the truth about life sometimes. This reminded me of that.

I can't believe I just freely gave up two extra hours of sleep to play Xbox. Ok, maybe I can. The new Lord of the Rings game released this week and we had been waiting for a few months. So far, so good. Its definitely more of a challenge for us than the last LOTR game we played a few years ago. But we both like it. In fact, I can't wait til tomorrow night to play again. Tomorrow is Emme's birthday party and it is going to be a lot of fun. I'll definitely be taking lots of pictures and will share them asap.
Ok, off to sleep I go. I am going to be so tired in the morning!!

happy november

Where did October go? Halloween flew by so quickly! I will be posting a few pics tomorrow of the costumes I made. I didn't get the best pictures because we had family over and the night was kind of hectic. By the time I was ready to take pics all they wanted to do was eat candy. And guess what? They pretty much forgot about the stash already. Yay, extra snacks for us after their bedtime! I hope everyone had a great time and made happy memories. So excited for the upcoming holidays!! Is everyone as excited as I am?

kind of a funny story

So, my loving man decided to cook dinner for our family the other day. Hamburger Helper, yay! Luci's favorite. In exchange, I ran to the store for his evening refreshment. On the way there, I was in a light and jovial mood. Until...I drove up to a bunch of children playing in the street. There were four of them, age range of 5 - 12 or so. They were playing jump rope in the middle of the street. I would always expect any driver who approaches kids playing in the street to slow to a crawl. First, for obvious safety reasons, and also almost just out of respect for their parents. I wouldn't want anyone driving by my children who might impulsively run after something or decide to cross the street at the last minute. Well, I smiled at the kids as I inched by. It seems I had to inch closer for them to keep moving, almost like they were playing chicken with me. I looked at the oldest, a girl, who then yelled at me like a deranged banshee, "HURRY UP!!!" Wow. The little girl was so mean and I just made the weirdest, most confused face and in fact, did kind of hurry so they could continue this game, which was obviously more pressing than the safety of the little ones who hovered nearby. After her battle cry, another little girl about  7 or 8 decided to flee after my car waving her arms like a spider monkey and shouted some incoherent audibles. I was flabbergasted, if ever a person could be. I automatically thought of telling their parents, but that's just the mother my mother in me. I just drove off, dazed from the encounter.
I guess some of us forget to teach our children how to act in certain situations and how they should be respectful to people. It is sad when a child screams at an adult for no good reason. I don't know what's worse, that or the fact that I drove another route on the way back because the little girl scared me. Yikes.

i'm back!

So, I have let far too much time go by without writing about anything. I know it is time to start writing about something, so I am just going to have at it. I imagine this blog will start off about the kids, because they are the most important thing in my life, but I suspect other interests of mine will make their way because they pretty much all seem to tie in some way or another. I have been feeling extremely sentimental lately always, and I feel anxious about the loss of time over the past 7 years. Luciana is 7 now, and it seems that, at least to my brain, my life started 7 years ago and has just flown by so quickly. There were so many things I wanted to do with her that I will never get to now. I guess I feel that by blogging about the things I want to do and plan to do, that I am creating a visual to-do list for myself, and maybe increasing my virtual accountability somehow. She is still young though, and Emme and Roslyn are even younger, so I am going to do everything I want with them, at whatever cost, from this point forward. I want to limit the regrets I have concerning my children as much as possible! So, here I am. Ready to write, ready to share, and ready to grow.
